CCTV in India

CCTV is used as a security device for surveillance need. Every country around the world uses this system including India. The use of CCTV in this country is increasing from time to time. German scientist, Walter Brunch, is the first one who designed CCTV to observe a rocket launch. The United Kingdom begins to use the same design in 1960 for a different purpose. They use the technology to observe public places to prevent criminal act from happening. United States of America use the technology to prevent crime in public buildings. The European countries are the biggest CCTV user; their government spends most of their crime-fighting budget in CCTV cameras and Digital Video Recorders, known as DVR, technology.

The use of CCTV in India triggered by some incidents occurs on other countries. After 9/11 attack, India adopted this technology in their effort of fighting terrorism acts.

In early years of 2002, CCTV cameras are used in schools to monitor the students, and supermarkets or retail stores to stop the act of shoplifting. In the same year, local airports also start using this technology. In 2004 the local authorities instructed banks and vaults to install CCTV cameras to fight bank robberies. To prevent pick pocketing, CCTV cameras are also installed on public bus and rail stations.

In order to provide a safe and secure society, the government has been given great power to do surveillance on anything even if it means to cross other people’s privacy. CCTV development has a bright future in India.

CCTV has become a must-have security system in India. Even in an everyday-life environment such as office, restaurant and other places.
